Artist: Sally Pennington Moore

The knowledge from Sally’s 35 years as a geoscientist really affects her work in glass. She has multiple series that show this effect including the Lava Series, Stratigraphy Series, Geoscapes and Rocks.

The lava mini-series is all about letting colors flow and run while hot and then sculpting the piece into the desired form. Each piece has one focus color and some dichroic added to it to give that sparkle effect. To the artist, making these is similar to watching lava flow, and the temperatures are about the same!
