This sculptural form was created by making two cups, one blue and one amethyst, and joining them while they are hot. The cups must meet exactly in size and shape to make a straight line where the colors meet.
Incalmo is a glass process that involves constructing an object, usually a vessel, by fusing in-situ two or more glass-blown elements. This process was first practiced in the Islamic world during the Middle Ages. It demands great precision as the edges of the two elements must be precisely the same in diameter.
