Welcome to all Glass Enthusiasts ! Big smiles opening our studio in 2014! 

Welcome glass lovers to the world of GlassblowingHouston! We want to connect with you who have similar values around creativity, collaboration, and community. We started this blog when we first opened as Three Dimensional Visions in 2014. We have rebranded to GlassBlowingHouston and are renewing our Beyond Glass Blog. We want to connect with you if you are enthusiastic about glass, art, and having new experiences together. Our goal is to Enrich their lives through artistic self-expression.

We originally opened our studio and gallery on April 1st, 2014! How appropriate, April Fools! After almost nine years, we are still the Houston area’s only open-access glassblowing studio. That means that you can come and watch us work anytime. Hot glass is our main media, but we work on kiln-formed glass and a few cold glass projects. We love visitors, so come on out.

We spent our early years developing a group of interns vying for an assistant or production technician job at our shop. These folks assisted the glass blowers, helped maintain the equipment, and kept the shop clean & functioning effectively. Sometimes they had to chase our feral chicken, Beauty, out of the shop and collect her eggs when she roosts under one of the tables. Unfortunately, Beauty is gone, but Eric Vargas was one of these interns, and he is still blowing with us!

We originally planned on having artists in residence. These folks would come to our studio, teach us and others, hold an event, and get some studio time of their own. We did this in the beginning to increase our skills, which was terrific. We learned through this experience that the resident in artist model was not viable for us.  We have been fortunate to meet some great glass folks here in Houston and around the world, and this community has been very giving with their enthusiasm, knowledge, and support.  We love passing it forward.
